Business Rates
Do you have a business premises?

If you own or rent business premises – have you remembered to claim your small business rate relief this year? This should be the last year in which you have to complete paperwork (certainly in London Borough of Sutton) as the relief will be automatically rolled over next year. You could be missing out on some real savings!

Professional help
From time to time I will invite comment from a panel of subject matter experts as and when there are either market or legislative changes afoot that I think will benefit from you knowing.

These business professionals are strategic partners (appearing on the right hand column) to whom I refer my own clients for specialist advice that is outside my area of expertise. Should you have a specific question for them, please feel free to click through their adverts and email a question or two. I have arranged a free consultation to be available for you if you are a subscriber. (Please subscribe first). I hope you find their advice useful.

Feature: Who is your ideal client?
Have you ever taken time out to think about this question?

Now, I know we all have clients and customers of all sorts. Some are more valuable than others, some more timely, some are awkward some are a downright pain at times but all are our lifeblood.

If you can build your ideal profile and focus on these clients it can have a huge impact on your profits…

Consider these questions to find out which are ideal:

  • What line of business are they in? or What do they do for a living?
  • Where are they located?
  • How much will they buy?
  • How often will they buy?
  • Will they offer you referral business?
  • How much attention will they need? Etc etc.

You get the picture – then ask yourself this:

  • How many new customers (of this sort) would you like this year?
  • What difference would that make to your profit margin?
  • How are you planning to attain them?
  • How does your business plan accommodate them?

Just taking time out to consider these questions will help improve your business planning process. Don’t worry if you haven’t got a robust business plan yet – in my experience many businesses don’t have one or make time to build one.

I would advise that you at least start planning strategically for your business success. If you are struggling at all – give me a call for a chat or email me requesting a complimentary business plan review.

A success story
One of my clients recently told me that since changing their focus from one to five years it has completely transformed the way that his business runs and what his staff are focused on. His dream is one of a multi franchise corporation that operates both regionally and nationally.

What he found was that by keeping a sharp focus on what he wants (long term) an opportunity ‘just arrived’ on his doorstep as if by coincidence. Because of this his first satellite business is now underway a year before time. I can tell you that it was no coincidence but more a conditioning of his unconscious (business) mind to recognise a path to what he wants.

The lesson here is focus on what you want and not - what you don’t want. Now, I know that sounds obvious but all to often I find business owners doing just that and trying to avoid failing and moving closer to failure on a daily basis!

So what do you want? Write it down and make sure all of the goals you set are what we call in the coaching profession 'towards motivated' i.e. what it is that you specifically want.

Don’t forget, when you get it celebrate and enjoy the moment to stay motivated and breed even more success.

I will be delving inside the strategies of a resourceful business mindset over the coming months so subscribe today to ensure you get all the ‘nuggets’.
