Introduction
Welcome back to BizTips…..

There’s a chill in the air and autumn is here for sure.

I guess if you are still reading this from your business email inbox then you and I are through the worst. How many I wonder have done more in the recession months (now a year on) then the previous period. I would love to hear from you on how you achieved your results this year.

I am hoping that this will be our last post before re-branding and the launch of Impackta News which will continue from a slightly different platform and with a whole new look.

Event Alert: Impact at 'The Stoop'...I will be addressing business customers of LloydsTSB, at the home of Harlequins RUFC on 11th November. If you would like an invitation then please arrange with us by calling the office - all are welcome but by invitation only.

Thanks for reading.

Biztips is completely complimentary and I hope you find the content here both useful and informative. If you haven't already done so then please subscribe and feel free to send it to a business colleague, friend, client or even supplier, by using the link here or in the right hand margin

Feature: Ask yourself excellent questions… you are predisposed to know the answers!

Regular readers will be familiar with the postulation: ‘focus on what you want’. That is because the business mind (and every other mind for that matter) is wired through its sub conscious to find a path, actually several paths to create just that.

All too often I imagine if you listen to many struggling would-be entrepreneurs, you might hear variations on the following self talk questions:

“Why is it that we struggle for new customers?”

“Why don’t we make enough profit?”

“How can we avoid exceeding that overdraft this month?”

Not exactly well formed and resourceful and I imagine we have all fallen into the same trap at some time, more likely in a recession. If your self talk sounds familiar then try these on for size:

“What do we need to create in our business to be truly financially independent?”

“What is it that will allow our customers to realise our added value?”

“How can we exceed our own expectations and that of our clients?”

“How can we create abundance in this business?”

Such questions will allow the paths to become dear. Try it out. Carry a notebook and every time your mind comes up with an answer (strategy) write it down and ask the questions again and again.

I read in Richard Branson’s autobiography that he is never without his notebook – I wonder what sort of questions he has been asking himself?

I wonder if a recent one was: “how can Brawn GP simultaneously win the drivers’ and constructors’ championships in the first year?”

Remember story time? New world marketing

The days of forcing ideas down the throats of our prospects are probably in the dim and distant past. Subtlety in the world of marketing is an art form for sure. Having said that, one easy sure fine way to engage prospects is to tell them a story.

After all, ever since our first days at nursery and later in school, our minds were conditioned to enjoy ‘story time’.

At every opportunity you should be enlightening prospects with metaphors (tales) of extraordinary service, difficult situations that were handled and problem solving for clients just like them.

Just have a think about subliminal messaging here, if you have enough good stories with happy endings, when well told…

  • You must be experienced.
  • You have many customers.
  • You can help almost anyone.
  • There is probably nothing you can’t help me with.
  • You are an expert in your field.

Better still get someone else to tell the story – testimonials on your website, brochures and such like are also a great way of getting the message out.

Passion – a key performance indicator for sure

When consultants refer to K.P.I’s (key performance indicators) you will hear the terms: turnover, customer service index and conversion rates. Passion is often overlooked as a K.P.I, even though it’s the life force of any business. Generally it exists, at the outset at least, in the mind of the business owner.

So, how’s your business passion doing lately?

a) Can’t remember what that feels like, it’s been a while?
b) Comes and goes, ebbs and flows might need a fix soon!
c) Still burning bright and coursing through the arteries of my business.
d) Both my staff and I show the passion equally (the sign of ultimate leadership).

If you’re stuck in a) or b) give us a call for your booster – we’ll soon have you back on track!
